Quote a Quote or
Two. |
|
Last
month, Jeanne White once again asked me to fill in for
her as guest host of her radio show
Connect
with Jeanne White.
It was
because of this request, that I had the pleasure of
interviewing Jamie Ross of Fat Cat
Design; a web and print graphics design firm and
Maryellen McCarthy-Rogers of Tree Frog
Marketing; a PR/Marketing communications firm on
95.9 WATD.
During
that interview Maryellen and Jamie not only shared their
businsess announcement and information, but also they
shared their personal stories and some fantastic advice,
that included a couple of quotes that I want to share
again here. One quote was by Havel Vaclav and
goes like this: "Vision
is not enough, it must be combined with
venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps,
we must step up the stairs."
The other quote was by Confucious and goes like this:
"Chose a job you love and you will never have to
work a day in your
life." | |
From Vision to
Venture. |
|
When I think about both of these quotes, I can't
help but smile. If more people lived by these two
principles the world would be a much happier
place.
Combining vision with venture is a major part of what life
coaching is all about. Looking at different areas
in your life that you want to achieve some goal or see
different results, is step one. Step two involves
looking at possible ways of making the things you
want to happen, occur. The hardest part of
the process is often step three, which is putting those
possibilities into practice to see what
works.
Too often, people let go of their dreams and
desires because they don't think that they know where to
start or where they will end up, if they go for
what they want. It seems easier to sit back and
continue dreaming, or come up with great plans and not
follow through, because there is no real risk
involved. The down side of that type of thinking
is that one day it might all catch up to you,
and when it does you will find yourself filled
with the pain of regret.
What visions have you been putting on the
back burner or burying deep within yourself. Isn't
it time to get the venture part going, so that you
might realize your
dreams. |
Love your
Job. |
|
Can you imagine what life would be like
if everyone chose a job that they loved. If you
are going to spend 8+ hours a day doing something you
might as well be happy right.
So what are the benefits of enjoying
doing something that takes up 1/3 or more of your
day? The first thing that comes to my mind is
that there is a much better chance that your
happiness will spill over into the rest of your
day. Think of the impact that your positive
attitude would have on the people around you.
If you have a positive impact on them then they will not
only spread the joy to others but also they will reflect
it back to you, which would only boost you
even higher.
If you are not currently employed doing something
that you love it might be time to start thinking about
what you would do if given the opportunity. In the
meantime maybe you can find at least one small aspect of
your job that you enjoy and start speading the happiness
based on whatever you come up with. Do
this until you decide to seriously look for
opportunities to have your dream job or
career. |

Both Jamie and Maryellen have put these two
wonderful philosophies into practice for
themselves. You can hear their inspiring venture
stories, obvious love of their jobs and how
combining their talents and services can benefit you, by
listening to the interview, (click

You can also learn more
about them by visiting their prospective websites Fat Cat
